Mousehole ('Mouzel') is a
picturesque fishing village clustered around a
'horseshoe' shaped harbour, with a network of granite
and slate cottages, narrow streets and cobbled lanes.
The two small sandy
beaches set within the harbour wall are a safe haven and
perfect for families with young children. The village
also has two larger pebble beaches with rocks and
rock-pools, including a small natural ‘sea-water’
swimming poolMousehole has several small shops including
a newsagent, post office, dairy and grocers where fresh
produce can be purchased daily. Its well worth a visit
to 'The Cornish Range', Mousehole's fish restaurant,
which offers a mouth watering selection of fresh fish
caught locally. But be warned, you need to book early as
it is very popular. Alternatively the 'Ship Inn', which
is child friendly, provides not only a pint but bar
meals and a restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner,
again bookings are recommended. The Brasserie at the
local hotel also offers another place to eat whilst
looking out to sea from their garden which leads down to
the water front. Water colours and pottery are available
from local artists, allowing you take home memories of a
very special holiday.
Whether you want a
sunbathing, rambling, golf, fishing or maybe a
birdwatching holiday Mousehole and the surrounding
countryside has it all. Young families don’t need to
leave the village…..everything is to hand. The
breathtaking walk across the coastal path to Lamorna
Cove is well worth the trip………with a wonderful stop for
lunch at your destination and the view from the golf
course at Cape Cornwall is spectacular.
In recent months we have
been delighted to see seals in the warm coastal waters
off Mousehole harbour and dolphins swimming in Sennen
Cove. Mousehole is within easy reach
of Penzance (4 miles), St
Ives (it is worth a visit to The Tate St Ives), the Eden
project, Sennan Cove (surfing), Praa Sands (golf), the
stunning 'outdoor'
Minack Theatre
and many more breathtaking Cornish villages and
landmarks.
Winter is also
breathtaking with the spectacular 'Mousehole Lights'
during December/January. This display of coastal and
village decorations attract thousands of people each
year! We decorate our cottage for Christmas early in
December, as do all the villagers, making sure our
guests not only appreciate the Christmas spirit in the
village but also inside Penzer.
A welcome tray to include
a Cornish cream tea and a bottle of wine greets all our
guests on their arrival!
